Arrival Logistics

Thank you for speaking. Everything you need is on this page — what the audience is asking, parking, rideshare, and where we will meet.

Map showing gold walking routes from the Hopkins Parking Structure and from Lot 503 — labelled assigned spaces only — to a star marking the Qualcomm Institute Auditorium in Atkinson Hall, and a short blue route from the auditorium to the main entrance of the Computer Science and Engineering building, where a second star marks the chair's office in room 266.
Gold routes run from each parking area to the auditorium (star). Lot 503 is the closer of the two, but every space in it is assigned — park in the Hopkins structure unless a space number has been assigned to you. The short blue route runs from the auditorium to the main entrance of the Computer Science & Engineering building; the second star is the chair's office. Routes follow the campus footpath network.

Parking

Park in the Hopkins Parking Structure. Lot 503, the small lot just west of Atkinson Hall, is closer, but every space in it is individually assigned — without a space number assigned to you, you cannot park there.

  Walk to the auditorium
Hopkins Parking Structure — the one to aim for about 7 minutes (545 m)
Lot 503 — only with an assigned space number about 3 minutes (230 m)

Park in spaces marked with a white V (visitor). Pay through the ParkMobile app using zone 4752, or at the pay kiosk by the 7th-floor elevators in the Hopkins structure.

Rates at last check: first 30 minutes free, then $4.20/hour, $33.60 daily maximum. After 5 PM and on weekends, $2.10/hour with an $8.40 maximum. Rates and zones change — please confirm at the kiosk when you arrive.

Arriving by Uber or Lyft

Atkinson Hall’s street address is 3195 Voigt Dr, La Jolla, CA 92093 — that works in Uber, Lyft and any map app. Do not use the campus mailing address, 9500 Gilman Drive; it will drop you on the far side of campus.

This link drops a pin directly on the auditorium:

Questions from the audience

Students post questions for our speakers ahead of each talk and vote on the ones they most want answered. Worth a look before you write your talk — it is the clearest signal we have of what this audience actually wants to know.

The page below is read-only and needs no sign-in, so you can open it on any device or share it with colleagues.
